A multi-year project by the Town of Port McNeill, independent business owners, the Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Mount Waddington and Rotary Club to enhance liveability, aesthetics, community pride, and the visitor experience.

Mount Wadddington Transit: Schedules
Regional bus transportation connectes Sointula, Alert Bay, Port McNeill, Port Hardy and Woss. A bus to the local skill hill, Mount Cain runs on weekends in the winter.
Tofino Bus: Schedules
Tofino Bus replaced the Greyhound Bus service on the North end of Vancouver Island. They offer once daily North and Southbound trips connecting Port McNeill and the communities at the North end of the Vancouver Island to Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Nanaimo, Victoria and all points between.

YOUTH EDUCATION OPTIONS
Northern Vancouver Island's public education system has been on the forefront of strategic learning and multi-cultural programs for several years. Visit the School District 85, Vancouver Island North (SD85) webpage for more information about youth learning and the public school system.
Avalon Adventist Christian Academy in Port Hardy is accredited by the Federation of Independent Schools Association British Columbia, and offers a faith-based pedagogical approach.

POST SECONDARY EDUCATION, DISTANCE LEARNING & SKILLS TRAINING
North Island College maintains campus locations in our region, but that's not the only option for Post Secondary Education. Island based Royal Roads University offers a blended learning model which allows students to study from afar. Vancouver Island University, has program offerings in the region, and which the addition of high-speed fibre optic internet to the region, there is room for growth in the distance and online education sectors.
North Island Employment Foundations Society (NIEFS) has jobs boards, postings, and assistance available online and through their regional office, which is associated with WorkBC.
ARTS & CULTURE
MUSIC, THEATRE, DANCE & SPECIAL EVENTS
Arts & culture thrive in small communities. Our close relationship to the land, sea and abundance natural resources provide inspiration for artists in the Port McNeill & District region. The North Vancouver Island Artists Society is instrumental in supporting artists in our region. Our local Gatehouse Theatre has a deep history in the roots of the community, and is currently being operated by the Gatehouse Theatre Society, a non-profit organization.
