HIKING & TRAILS
Trails are abundant on the North Island. From leisurely to intense, there is no shortage of beautiful forested trails and vistas to take in. The town itself features numerous easy-for-all ages trails, including the new Rotary Trail, perfect for fitness and fresh air.

Port McNeill's community pool provides recreation and employment opportunity from May through September.
The outdoor pool is warmed to allow for lengths, swimming lessons, and Aquafit classes. It's a beautiful place to do lengths in fresh air and has been a popular facility for years.
AVID SWIMMER?
Extend the swim season! Our neighbouring community of Port Hardy is a 25-30 minute drive, and features has an indoor pool. Port Hardy is constructing a large multiplex planned for completion in 2020.

CHILTON REGIONAL ARENA
The Chilton Regional Area and the community of Port McNeill has spawned more than its fair share of Hockey superstars! The community's ice hockey programs are second to none in the province, and provide ample opportunity for both fun, recreational sport and advanced rep league hockey.
Youth and adult programs run through the area, with male and female ice hockey teams providing great family entertainment in both league and tournement matches.
There are also family and public skates, figure skating, and learn to skate programs.

Port McNeill's figure skating program is part of the community programming available at the Chilton Regional Area.

Mount Cain Alpine Park is home to the Mount Cain Ski Area in northern Vancouver Island one hour South East of Port McNeill on Highway 19N.
Mount Cain offers a unique experience to skiers, snowboarders and backcountry explorers.You'll find untouched powder (open on weekends, select Mondays and holidays) small line-ups and the welcoming atmosphere of a family-oriented mountain.
Mt. Cain is located near Schoen Lake regional park and is run by the Mt. Cain Alpine Park Society. It is Vancouver Island's only community owned and operated ski-hill.
