News from VIRL - what's happening at the Vancouver Island Regional Library

Port McNeill, B.C. June 11 - News from Jason Kuffler at VIRL

Hello Chamber friends,

Last week we introduced our “Takeout” service which brings modified library services and hours to our branches. A FAQ sheet can be found on our website here:https://virl.bc.ca/takeout/ and a direct link to the status of this service at your local branch can be found here: https://virl.bc.ca/take-out-status/.

We have also started our massive online book club called One Book. The first book is Greenwood by Galiano Island author Michael Christie. More details can be found here:https://virl.bc.ca/all-news/news/one-book-one-community/ and as a way to wrap-up this first book for One Book I was able to book the author for a live talk on June 30th at 2 PM. There will also be a 10 book prize package (chosen by Michael Christie) to be drawn on that day as well. One of the subsequent books chosen for One Book will be on business.

Our Professional Series webinars launches tomorrow, June 12th beginning with the first two of four photography workshops presented by Dirk Heydemann of HA Photography. You can access our Professional Series page here: https://virl.bc.ca/learn/skills/professional-series/. On June 24th from 12-1 our Professional Series will host a live cast on anti-fraud with the BC Security Commissions’ Director of Enforcement Doug Muir. Watch the Professional Series page for more details.

Thank you so much for what you do for our communities, keep staying safe and I hope to connect with you all again in the near future.

Jason Kuffler, on behalf of VIRL
