News Update From Our Chamber Friend Bridget Horel, Regional Manager FLNRORD

Good afternoon,

Below is a message regarding the CleanBC Industry Fund from the Climate Action Secretariat, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.Webinars will be held March 10th and 11th – information on webinar registration at bottom of email. Note that this funding is for eligible industrial operators (see attached one pager).

The CleanBC Industry Fund issued a Request for Proposals for two funding streams on March 3, 2021:

  1. Emissions Performance (closing April 30, 2021) supports projects that reduce emissions directly at an industry’s operation using commercially proven technologies.

  2. Innovation Accelerator (closing May 24, 2021) supports projects that involve the demonstration, pilot or trial of pre-commercial technologies or processes with the potential to reduce emissions for industry in B.C.

Changes to Emissions Performance only available in 2021

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is committed to working with industrial sectors to enhance the CleanBC Program for Industry (CPI) so that additional funding is available to support mines, pulp mills, oil and gas processing plants, and other industrial facilities in their efforts to reduce GHG emissions and move to cleaner operations. To support this, the CleanBC Industry Fund is making several temporary changes to the 2021 Emissions Performance RFP including:

  • Increasing Provincial share of funding up to 90% of eligible costs and raising the per-project funding cap to $25M, to remove barriers to applying and encourage a greater number of proposals to the CIF.

  • Requesting additional project budget data as part of the RFP application, to support the program’s assessment of the program and inform future developments.

Understanding the scope and breadth of potential projects that could be implemented in the next few years will help us further enhance the program to meet the needs of industry and government, including economic recovery in B.C. due to the challenges resulting from COVID-19.

To review complete RFP requirements, guidance information and to submit a Proposal, visit the CleanBC Industry Fund web page at cleanbc.ca/industryfund.

Questions on the RFP and process can be directed to the Program Advisor and sent to this email: cleanbcindustryfund@gov.bc.ca.
